He comes from a family which has a very rich sporting history. Raj’s father name is Sukhwinder Bawa, was a well known Hockey player and had a played for Haryana junior team. He also played for Indian Under 19 camp but with early injury he was dropped soon and took retirement. Later on Sukhwinder became a cricket coach and also coached players like Yuvraj Singh and VRV Singh. In his early age Raj Bawa found his mentor/coach in his father and started practicing cricket serious.

He has played for a total of three teams till now that is India A U-19, India B U-19 and India U-19 team. Subsequently, in the first match between India A U-19 vs India B U-19 of the triangular series, Raj took 23 wickets in total for the B U-19 and the match was won by Indian B U-19 Team by 4 wickets. Although other two matches against Bangladesh were not in much favour of Bawa as well as the Indian Team and Bangladesh won both the matchs.
However during the Asian Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup, in the first few matches, Bawa was not in a great form but as he got back in shape he started smashing runs and taking wickets for India. During India Under 19 vs Pakistan Under 19 match, Raj took a total of four wickets by giving off 56 runs. Though this match ended up in Pakistan’s Favor, Bawa gave his best with the ball.
